This small group tour takes the stress and inconvenience out of planning, starting with a pick-up by luxurious 18-seater Mercedes coach.

We'll travel through some of the North Island's most picturesque rural landscapes where you'll see quaint farm blocks and vast hill country estates along with rolling farmlands, green pastures and native forests - all stunning features that characterize the Waitomo region.

Waitomo Ruakuri Cave - Step into a world of natural wonder on this magical underground experience. Unlike other cave tours, Ruakuri offers a unique blend of subterranean marvels, including the enchanting glowworms that will leave you spellbound. You'll descend down a stunning spiral entrance before exploring delicate limestone formations and crystal-lined walls, accompanied by the soothing sounds of hidden waterfalls.

Afterward, enjoy a delicious bespoke lunch alongside your fellow travelers.

Hobbiton Movie Set - The journey continues with a scenic drive across the Waikato region, leading to a working sheep farm in Matamata—better known to fans of J.R.R. Tolkien as "The Shire." Immerse yourself in the world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and discover the secrets behind Middle-earth’s creation as you wander through lush gullies, ancient trees, and detailed film sets, including Hobbit Holes, the Mill, and the Green Dragon Inn. Top off the experience with a specially brewed drink that’s truly worthy of a hobbit.

This full-day tour offers the perfect blend of stunning landscapes, fascinating attractions, and memorable experiences—a must-do for nature lovers and movie fans alike!

  • + 20mins Hobbiton Movie Set Tour starts
  • Approx. 5.15pm Depart Hobbiton
  • Approx. 8.00pm Drop off at Auckland CBD hotels

    A detailed list of pickup points will be provided on your booking confirmation.

    Children must be accompanied by an adult (Minimum age is 4 years).

    Not wheelchair friendly as these are walking tours.

    We can provide NZ Safety Approved Child Car Seats / Booster Seats. We do not provide strollers or infant back packs.

    Lunch: Please select your preferred lunch option upon check-out. Please note if you are making a last minute booking (after 1pm the day before booked departure) your lunch will include a Gourmet Tortilla Wrap instead of Gourmet Sandwhiches on Turkish Pide Bread.

  • Please Note:

    If you are late or miss your scheduled tour time, your booking is forfeited and non-refundable.

    Amendments can be made up to 24 hours before your pre-booked tour departure time.

    An amendment fee of NZ$20 per booking will be charged for any bookings changed.

    Cancellations made within 24 hours of the booked tour experience occurring are 100% non-refundable. Cancellations made prior to 24 hours of the booked experience occurring are refundable. In the case of a cancellation where a refund is allowed, the refund will be made to the card used in the original transaction method.
